The town of Mali Lošinj is the administrative center of the western part of Kvarner with a total area of 223 km², and includes the southern part of the island of Cres, from the bays Koromačno and Ustrina, and the island of Lošinj and a group of smaller islands: Unije, Ilovik, Susak, Male Srakane, Vela Srakane .
Mali Lošinj is the largest settlement on the island, located on the south side of the Lošinj Bay. The beginnings of Mali Lošinj date back to the 12th century, while Lošinj experienced its "golden age" only in the 19th century, when, thanks to the sea and seafaring, "Malo selo" became a maritime town.
